Tomorrow is the Pagan celebration called the Winter Solstice, this celebration dates back many years, as one of the oldest celebrations in history. The Winter solstice is a celebration of the light and warmth which will return after the 21st of December which is the shortest, darkest and coldest day of the year.
The druids would celebrate by cutting mistletoe that grew on an oak tree and give to people as a blessing, they were a symbol of life in the winter. The Yule Log was also created by druid’s which is large hard log which is burnt on this date. Many of the pagan customs are still followed today, they have been incorporated into Christian and secular celebrations of Christmas.
