Which NEW star sign are YOU?

Here at Psychic Future HQ we are all astounded to find out that we now have different star signs to the ones we were originally born with… NASA’s recent astronomical calculations have changed our approximately 2,000-year old astrological signs, including an already-existing yet long-forgotten 13th star sign! Around 86% of our current population is now under the influence of a different star sign.

The scientific reason for this breakthrough discovery and changes is due to the fact that today’s sky is very different to the existing sky that of a millennia ago. The axis of the Earth points in a different direction now, hence our traditional astrological signs are a month out.

Laurie Cantillo of the Planetary Exploration, Heliophysics department, told the BBC that: “We didn’t change any zodiac signs, we did the math. NASA reported that because the Earth’s axis has changed, the constellations are no longer in the same place they were thousands of years ago.”

NASA’s Space Place started a heated debate on the differences between astrology and astronomy, saying how astrology is a relic of ancient history, whilst astronomy is based on the observation of the skies using scientific methods and mathematical calculations.

3,000 Years of Looking Up

Thousands of years ago, human civilization lacked the knowledge and tools to fully understand the movement of the Sun, the stars, and the Earth as we do today; they didn’t realise the Universe was as vast. Nevertheless, they were extremely interested in observing the changes taking place in the sky, and made extensive efforts to make sense of it.

By then, we had already understood that the stars and constellations had a very important impact on our daily lives, using them to explain mythical stories about our ancestors and Gods, according to these stories there were in fact 13 constellations.

The Babylonian people already had a 12 month calendar that was based on the Moon’s phases. To work out a systematic division of the Zodiac, they looked up at the belt of the heavens monitoring the Earth’s orbit around the Sun. It seemed to pass the 12 constellations, so they decided to ignore the 13th ‘Ophiuchus’, to be able to equally assign one constellation per lunar month.
