Uranus has just moved into Taurus, where it will be until mid-November, which means we have six months to harness this metamorphic energy and become the butterfly we know we deserve to be! This is a time of great change, in so many ways, but we need to be strong and flexible in order to reap the benefits.

Over the next few months, you might find yourself trying out new things – whether that’s a new hobby, new recipe, new style, or bigger things, like a new way of thinking, or a different approach to dating.

In fact, “the norm” will be no longer beneath the dynamic energies of Uranus in Taurus. Everything is up for debate and ready to change. This can be good news, if you take advantage!

Allow me to update you on my exotic and enlightening travels in India! I was last in Goa (read my earlier post here), where I stayed for several weeks enjoying the beautiful seaside and studying Vedic Astrology with a well-known Hindu spiritual expert. Now I have decided to move further up north to the city of Rishikesh in order to escape from the heat and humidity that this time of year brings to Goa.

After a long journey, we’re finally settled in Rishikesh – the holy city of yoga! It’s crrrazy here, a lot like Varanasi, which we visited last year. They’re both very important Hindu pilgrimage places so there’s lots of ashrams, or holy men (and fake holy men – but I learnt my lesson with them last year!) and the magnificent River Ganges – which I swam in yesterday (it’s very clean up here in the mountains, as opposed to the famous murky waters of Varanasi) – it’s meant to be spiritual and cleansing and it was certainly very refreshing so I might try and make a habit of it!

We stayed for the weekend in the thick of it, but I very quickly got tired of the constant noise and commotion! So today we’ve relocated up away from it all in a lovely little leafy residential area which is wayyy quieter and more peaceful!

I’ve included you a couple of pictures of Rishikesh and two of the famous Beatles Ashram which we visited at the weekend – it’s INCREDIBLE! Built in an ancient/futuristic hybrid style in the 60s, the Beatles lived there for a month, and also wrote some of their most famous songs there. It’s all abandoned now, and covered in incredible graffiti – definitely well worth a Google if you don’t know it!

If you’re not keen on the taste, add slices of fresh lemon. Drinking green or black tea also counts. The teas help to lower your cholesterol, and are also beneficial to your cortisol levels, which are responsible for balancing your stress hormones.

 

Moderate Your Indulgences…

Just because you’re wearing extra layers of clothes, and you don’t have to get your body beach ready, it doesn’t mean that you can let loose on those indulgences. Most people expect to put on a few pounds in weight over the festive season. To make sure that you maintain a healthy diet you need to moderate your unhealthy habits. Regular exercise can also help you combat the excesses. Give your body food and drink that help to boost its natural vitality. Looking after your body in this way will greatly reduce the number of colds and ailments that you have throughout the winter.

 

Go Outside!!

When it’s cold, motivating yourself to get outside can be hugely challenging. Wrapping up warm and going for a walk is an excellent way to ward off winter chills and blues. When you most feel like hibernating it’s the ideal time to make an effort to go outside. Doing moderate intensity exercise will improve your quality of sleep and make you feel more motivated in the mornings. With limited sunlight, during the winter season, many people also like to take vitamin supplements to top up on Vitamin D.

 

Enjoy A Lie In

The dark mornings and limited daylight hours of winter can have a negative effect on your mind, body and spirit. Not only do you naturally feel like hibernating, but you also produce more melatonin, which can make you feel overtired and sluggish. To improve the quality of your rest and sleep, set yourself a seasonal routine. Switch off all mobile and electronic devices, and make sure that your bedroom is comfortably cool. Don’t eat or exercise immediately before bedtime, if you want to be able to drift off to sleep in no time at all. Sleep has the power to impact on your overall wellbeing, so it’s essential that you get enough. Enjoying a lazy lie in every once in a while is also recommended.

 

Be Realistic!

There is only so much that you can achieve before you start to feel pressured. Instead of having lofty expectations, especially during the busy Christmas period, be more realistic. Don’t make New Year’s resolutions that you know you will struggle to keep. Set the bar at a height that you can comfortably reach. You can always commit to additional goals once you achieve your initial targets. Not taking on too much will also greatly benefit your wellbeing over the winter months.
