5 Fun Things to do with your Mum on Mother’s Day
  1. The first one is a morning of pampering, whereby instead of you going to a salon , you take turns making yourselves look glorious.   Starting with a beautiful foot bath with glorious rose oil and lavender , then a skin buffing session and a light foot massage with gentle oils. Then a head and shoulder massage to gently ease away all of the tensions of the previous week, followed by a new cut and blow dry and you could even take turns in trying out new make- up on each other with a different look.
  2. Another fun idea is to have a day in the like of Gok Wan:  why not take your mother shopping and get her to try on colours and clothes that she would not normally try on, show her how young she can look and how glowing with the use of colours to enhance her natural tones.  A present of a brightly coloured, silk scarf is always a great gift alongside some lovely accessories:  chunky buckle belts, natural quartz earrings and  a necklace that can be used as a natural and very powerful, protective amulet, You may even wish to hold a ritual of anointing the new necklace with incense and allowing the powers of the universe to draw close to this amulet and say a prayer to protect over your mother when she is driving, or travelling or just in everyday life. Have fun!
  3. A workshop of Usui Reiki healing, whereby you  introduce your mother to the ways of healing, which can be used on herself and also on others (with their permission, I hasten to add).  After a lovely meal, you can sit down and take your time explaining that all living people, animals and plants have energy and that it is the flow of energy that promotes good health. then you can show her a little bit about the hand positions for Self Reiki healing, particularly with the hands together in the Gassho position to start (palms together with fingers  straight as if in prayer mode) and then she can place her left hand on her heart and her right hand on her stomach and just relax, breath deeply for  a count of 6 in, hold for 2, and out for 3 and repeat, this really works and also the use of music and enhance this great , joint healing effort. it is amazing how good you can feel once you have done this.
  4. After cooking your mother a beautiful, hearty breakfast of sausages, eggs, bacon, mushrooms, black pudding, tomatoes and baked beans, Take time to look over family photograph albums with pride and loving memories, then plan the day around a day of thanks giving’s for all that you have in your family, your sons and daughters, and all that you will be. Take your Mother to her favourite place, if it is the countryside, talk to her about the power of the seasons: how in the Pagan Times it was the right way of living, in that each season stood for different foods to eat, ways of thinking what to plan and what not to do. Very similar to white magic in that for Spring time , just now you take time to clear out your negative thoughts as well as your closet and take pride in your appearance and giving great joy for having such a wonderful family and loving support. You could have a time of introducing your mother to the true meaning of life: not just love and the power of the seasons but relate it to her own body, for example, the power of the sun is the essence of life itself and symbolised by the heart symbol, the wind is linked to the intellect and power of the mind, the earth and ground that we stand on is linked to our own bones and our support system and the water or beautiful stream that you see or dream of, is linked to your own emotions. The power of the seasons and dreams is intense and very powerful. Again have fun.
  5. Once you have spoken about such things, what about presenting your Mum with the greatest gift you could: a necklace made by yourself. Made with loving pride and tenderness, it could be simply a stone or donut shaped crystal with a cord through it, or it could be more complex with silver or gold wires and a series of different strands of beads and of course your mother’s favourite coloured stones. She would be thrilled and as it has been made with loving hands, she will feel the rays of the love when she wears this, and in turn will radiate that love outwards, this is  the laws of cause and effect. The beauty of it is  quite simply you don’t need to be a perfectionist to make such a gift but do  use crystals, beads and stones carefully chosen that she would like to wear. If she has arthritis include carnelian or ruby or haematite, if she suffers from spinal or nervous conditions use sodalite and lapis lazuli, if she is feeling run down why not use a combination of turquoise which energises the body and tourmaline which balances the hormones.   Enjoy Mothering Sunday and you will remember it for ever, and more importantly so will your Mum remember it.

What the Venus-Mars Conjunction has in Store for you this Valentine’s Day

The Venus-Mars conjunction falls on Valentine’s Day 2022 and we are seriously here for it! This union of opposites is spelling success for love magic, confidence and empowerment, so let’s find out more about it…

What is the Venus-Mars conjunction?

This basically means that the planets Venus and Mars are joined in the sky and will be sat at the exact same degree of Capricorn on Valentine’s Day! This year, it’s extra special because of the date it falls on as well as the fact that it’s going to last a whole TWO MONTHS afterwards, much longer than usual, and so we have a long window of time to experience the powerful magic of this union.

What does it mean for us?

They say that women are from Venus and men are from Mars, and this is because Venus represents feminine energies and Mars represents masculine ones. Because of this polarity, we’ll have an opposites attract situation on Valentine’s Day and for the two months afterwards.

You might experience a union in love and relationships. Many single people have reported meeting their partner on a Venus-Mars conjunction! If you’re already in a relationship, this transit can really spice things up and even repair any misunderstandings and disconnects that have been brewing since Venus and Mercury were retrograde recently.

Individually, this can also be a powerful time for confidence and empowerment, since we are more aware of the opposites within us – perhaps you’ve been too much in a masculine mode of living – working hard, chasing and pushing yourself to be strong – is it time to lean back into your feminine energy and rest a little, open yourself up to receive?

This can also be a potent transit for art and creative expression since the combination of masculine and feminine (or any opposites really – light and dark, push and pull, yin and yang) result in creation itself! Allow inspiration to guide you towards creating something new in your life.

How to make the most of the Venus-Mars conjunction?

Since all planets are now moving direct (no more retrogrades for a while – woohoo!) this really is a fabulous time to set some intentions on what you truly WANT.

Both Venus and Mars represent desire, albeit in different ways. Mars is desire that we take action towards and Venus is desire that’s more passive, we want it to come to us. Explore your desires in more depth – what do you want in your relationships? What do you desire in your work, life, free time? Let these desires shape your actions and your energy and watch your whole reality change.

How are you guys feeling this transit? Let us know! And if you want to go deeper, book a reading with one of our lovely readers – it’s the perfect time to get some guidance.

Much love,

Ellie Rose xoxo

5 Tips for Dating an Aquarius

Looking for some tips on dating an Aquarius? We’ve got you covered! From the obvious to the subtle, these tips will get you in any Aquarius’ good books.

1. Have some interests to share

An Aquarius is a fascinating soul with lots of interests and curiosities in life. As an air sign, they need to keep learning and entertaining their brilliant minds to feel satisfied, and you can often find them deep in study or tending to their obsessions. If you want to connect with an Aquarius, the best thing is to have some of your own interests and hobbies to discuss!

2. Don’t come on too strong

Aquarius often gets a bad reputation as being emotionless and while this is absolutely NOT the case, they aren’t exactly the gushy type either. If you want to date an Aquarius, best move slowly, and start off with more of a friendly vibe. So no declarations of love after three dates! Aquarius’ traditional ruler is Saturn and Saturn likes to take things slowly and to suss someone out a bit before diving into deep and meaningfuls.

3. Stand up for your beliefs

Aquarius is also ruled by Uranus which is the planet of radical change and activism so you can bet on your Aquarius having some STRONG opinions. If you’re the kind of person who just agrees with others to get along, you’ll repel an Aquarius. They want someone who really BELIEVES in something and will stand up for it no matter who is in front of them. Accompany them to a protest or enjoy some hot moral debate and you’ll be a winner in their eyes.

4. Chill out

Saying that, you don’t want to get *too* heated in your intellectual debates with an Aquarius, they’re not big fans of big emotion! Since Aquarius is a fixed sign, they can be stubborn but they’re pretty laid back types and it takes a lot to get most of them fired up. If you’re also a chilled person, you’ll get along just fine. If you’re more of the emotional type, try practicing some breathing exercises for emotional regulation – not that you have to change yourself for a partner but it will help you in all areas of life too!

5. Be yourself

The most important thing you can be is yourself! Aquarians are known for their quirky eccentric side and, at times, unusual style or manner. If you’re also a bit of a weirdo, let your freak flag fly, they’ll appreciate it! But if you’re more of a down to earth normie, just be that too, Aquarius biggest turn on is authenticity in all forms, so being yourself is your most powerful dating magic.

What do you think? Would you add any tips for dating an Aquarius? Or are you an Aquarius? What do you like best when dating? Let us know in the comments!

What is Venus Retrograde?

What is Venus Retrograde? Prepare to find out! In this article you’ll get to know the astronomy behind this powerful transit as well as how it will affect you and how you can really benefit from it!

What is Venus Retrograde?

Venus Retrograde is when the planet Venus appears to be moving backwards in the sky. This happens once every 18 months and lasts for approximately 40 days.

During this time, we focus more on our love and relationships, our self-worth and our money situation. Underneath all of this, of course, are our beliefs about ourselves and the world, and so during Venus Retrograde, we tend to get a refresher on some of our limiting beliefs.

The Myth of Venus Retrograde

The mythology behind Venus Retrograde dates all the way back to Sumerian times with the world’s most ancient poem – The Descent of Inanna.

Inanna is the Sumerian goddess of love and war and her famous poem tells of her journey to the underworld and her death and rebirth. It is a story of darkness and betrayal, of power and regeneration.

In the myth, Inanna is the planet Venus, and when planet Venus dips below the horizon for retrograde season, Inanna is said to be in the underworld. Later, when planet Venus rises above the horizon as a morning star, Inanna is said to have been brought back to life and returned to the heavens as queen.

This story reminds us at Venus retrograde to face our own shadows and accept both the light and dark parts. It teaches us to embody our full power and reminds us that we can always rise again like a phoenix after relationship or life challenges.

Venus Retrograde 2021 in Capricorn

Venus Retrograde in 2021 will be in the sign of Capricorn. This is a time to reflect on our feelings of authority and stability in our relationships, money and selfworth.

You might find yourself focusing more on imbalances in your relationships. Perhaps there is some room for you to stand up for yourself a little more? Be more direct? Maybe you find yourself less bothered by other people’s “stuff” and more focused on your own business.

This is a powerful time to heal relationship AND money wounds. Any beliefs that you have around having to work hard to receive are up for debate. A look at your story and past history will enlighten you as to the beliefs that are still blocking you.

Ultimately, Venus Retrograde is a time for you to reconfigure some of the stories you tell yourself about who you are and what you truly deserve in this life. You do deserve to receive love, material comfort and beauty, so why aren’t you believing in that?

Venus Retrograde will show you the answer.

The Zodiac Signs at Christmas

The zodiac signs at Christmas – what are they up to? We’ve all got our favourite ways to celebrate and chill and each sign has their very own special Christmas rituals. Some people love family time, others are more excited about the food and the presents – so tell us, what’s your sign and what do you like to do at Christmas?

Aries – Christmas crafts with the kids

Who’s got all the energy on Christmas day? An Aries has! You’ll find cardinal fire Aries wherever the fun is at, usually with an art project on the go, surrounded by glitter and getting the kids pumped for the Christmas celebrations (then later crashing after they go to bed!).

Taurus – online shopping

Taurus is ruled by Venus and Venus loves to shop. A Taurus at Christmas can be found wherever presents are at, or online, filling their virtual shopping baskets with beautiful things for everyone they love (including themselves!).

Gemini – chatting in the kitchen

Being ruled by Mercury, Gemini at Christmas LOVES to socialise and you’ll find them in the kitchen chatting about everything under the sun, or on the phone to relatives that can’t be there, filling them in on all the latest family news.

Cancer – cosy by the fire

Cancer is ruled by the moon and their nurturing side loves to come out at Christmas. You’ll find them cosying up by the fire and creating an epic nest of comfort for the holidays. If a Cancer isn’t with their favourite people at Christmas, they get the holiday blues.

Leo – getting dressed up

Christmas and New Year for a Leo is the perfect opportunity to whip out that sparkly dress and statement earrings. Being ruled by the sun, you’ll not catch a Leo in their PJs on Christmas day, instead, they’ll be there with bells on – quite literally!

Virgo – writing New Year’s resolutions

Virgos are known to love a good list and what’s the best list of the year? New Year’s resolutions of course! Mutable earth Virgo is always seeking ways to improve and so you’ll usually find them, pen in hand, organising their lives for the coming year.

Libra – under the mistletoe

Libra is Venus-ruled and an air sign which makes them a flirtatious and sociable bunch! You can find a Libra where the action is at – on a festive date, chatting to their latest admirer, or if they’re lucky, under the mistletoe!

Scorpio – observing everybody else

As a fixed water sign, Scorpio is known to be deep and mysterious – they’d rather watch the party than join it. This is simply because Scorpio seeks to understand everything so at Christmas you’ll find them happy in a corner observing all the action.

Sagittarius – getting the party started

Ruled by Jupiter, the jolliest planet of them all, a Sagittarius can be the life of the party, dancing, telling jokes and generally lifting everyone’s spirits. At Christmas there’s added enthusiasm so prepare for the festivities to blow up as soon as your Sag walks in the door!

Capricorn – driving home for Christmas

We all know that a Capricorn tends to work a lot. This is because they’re ruled by Saturn. At Christmas, a Capricorn can be found on their way home! They are a sentimental bunch really and they’d never miss the family get together for anything!

Aquarius – playing a board game

As a Uranus-ruled sign, Aquarius are a quirky bunch and love any activity that involves teamwork, competition and general silliness. It’s guaranteed that an Aquarius at Christmas can be found setting up a board game or quiz for the family to play together.

Pisces – watching Christmas movies

Pisces tend to be a sentimental sign. Ruled by Neptune, they love escapism and nostalgia so a Pisces at Christmas can be found watching their childhood favourite Christmas movie for the hundredth time. Add a cuddle with a pet into the mix and you’ve got yourself a Pisces’ perfect Christmas.

So how did we do? What’s your favourite Christmas activity? Come and tell us on social media!

5 Tips for Dating a Capricorn

Need some tips for dating a Capricorn? We’ve got you! Here’s some of our tried and tested pointers to make your Cap fall in love – and stay there!

1. Security

Dating a Capricorn means you’re going to be talking about the future at some point. These ambitious go-getters like to KNOW that the person they’re dating is a sure thing (and not a liability!). You don’t have to be rich or successful but if you’ve got your life somewhat together, your Capricorn is more likely to trust you enough to build their future with you.

 2. Responsibility

This leads us to the next point – responsibility. Ruled by Saturn, a Capricorn likes to know they can trust you to take care of business. Can you do your own laundry? Are you usually on time? Do you have a 5-year plan or at least an idea of where you want to be later down the line? Are you taking action on these things or just playing around? A Capricorn wants to see that you can take care of yourself without them doing it for you.

3. Tenacity

The symbol of a Capricorn is the mountain goat, one of the most tenacious animals on earth – just see how they climb impossible cliff faces to get to the good grass! Your Capricorn will be impressed by your stories of challenges you’ve overcome. Had a hard time in life? Had to claw your way out of a bad situation? Share it! Capricorns love a story of an underdog fighting and rising up to success.

4. Wisdom

Saturn is maturity and with maturity comes wisdom. Capricorns like dignified and powerful people who they can learn from, so make sure to show them that you know a thing or two about life. Of course, don’t show off, a Capricorn isn’t impressed by extravagance or arrogance, but rather, a quiet and genuine confidence that they can sense about you.

5. Emotional Safety

Typically, a Capricorn is not described as an emotional person, but this is a misconception. Underneath their tenacious tough exterior is a soft and caring heart of gold – but you’ll need to be especially trustworthy to catch a glimpse of it! Create a safe space for them to be vulnerable with you – no judgement, pressure or pretence and your Capricorn will open up and be yours.

What do you think? Are you dating a Capricorn? Or are you a Capricorn? Any tips to add here?

12 Traditional Halloween Rituals for Your Zodiac Sign

Can’t think of what to do for Halloween this year? We’ve got you covered with 12 of the most traditional Halloween rituals and activities – all organised by zodiac sign and explained in detail so you know the true Samhain power and magic behind them.

Aries – trick-or-treat

Halloween is based on the Celtic festival of Samhain, when the dead were said to walk the earth and cause havoc. Nowadays trick-or-treating is an echo of the traditions that allowed people to create their own rowdiness to scare away the ghosts and ghouls – by pretending to be one of them!

Taurus – eating candy

Candy was introduced to Halloween rituals just a century ago by American candy manufacturers looking for new ways to market their products, however, this time of year would traditionally be the Celtic harvest time and people would have celebrated by feasting – and that’s a good enough excuse for us!

Gemini – apple bobbing

Bobbing for apples may seem like a fun Halloween ritual for kids’ parties but it supposedly dates back to the Romans, who, after taking over Britain, combined the original Celtic holiday of Samhain with two of their own festivals, one of which was to worship the Roman Goddess, Pomona, whose symbol is an apple.

Cancer – light a fire

As the darkest time of year, Halloween (or Samhain as it was called in Celtic times) was a time when bonfires were lit and every home would have a fire blazing to ward off the cold, dark nights. It’s also one really cosy way to spend your Halloween.

Leo – costume party

The traditional roots of Halloween costumes go way back to Celtic times where people would don spooky costumes and dance around bonfires to ward off spirits. Nowadays, it’s also a perfect opportunity to look fabulous! For Leos looking for Halloween rituals for your zodiac sign – this is surely the one!

Virgo – divination

Get out your tarot cards or your crystal ball because Halloween is a powerful time to do divination. The ancient Druids are said to have utilised this time of year to practice divination and receive prophecies about the year to come.

Libra – dumb supper

If you’re hosting a dinner party this Halloween, try the tradition of a “dumb supper” by serving an extra plate of food at your table for the dead. This tradition is still practiced to this day in Mexico for Dia de Los Muertos (day of the dead) on November 2nd as a living memory for departed ancestors.

Scorpio – horror movie marathon

Horror movies for Halloween is another way of respecting the dead at this time of year, even if we’re unaware of the significance! The more sensitive amongst us will notice that many of these movies contain kernels of truth in them about the true nature of Samhain, aka the day of the dead.

Sagittarius – practice witchcraft

As the veil is thin, Samhain is a powerful time to work your desires into spells! Traditionally, this festival was synonymous with witchcraft, but in the late 1800s in America, people started to remove the spooky, occult elements from Halloween and make it more about community. Why not include both and start a coven? 😉

Capricorn – study the occult

The Christian festival of All Hallow’s Eve was merged with Samhain to encourage the Celts to follow it. This day was about commemorating departed saints and banishing the devil’s entourage of evil spirits. Anything occult related was seen as devil worship by early Christians, but nowadays, we have access to many fascinating occult books – so why not dive in this Halloween?

Aquarius – pumpkin carving

Did you know that pumpkins are not actually native to Britain? And that the original vegetable carved at this time of year was a turnip? Yep! People carved faces into the turnips then lit candles in them to keep ghosts away from their homes at Samhain time – but these days a pumpkin is much easier!

Pisces – hold a séance

At Halloween, the veil between the living and the dead grows very thin and holding a séance is one way to utilise those Piscean psychic gifts. Séances used to be very popular in Victorian times as forms of entertainment! Do you dare to give it a go?

So which of these Halloween rituals will you be trying? Let us know!

Many Samhain blessings to you and your ancestors.

5 Tips for Dating a Scorpio

Need some tips for dating a Scorpio? We understand! Scorpios can be mysterious souls, but there are some surprises! And once you get to know them and work out what makes them tick, you’ll experience a deep and romantic love that you never knew was possible.

Accept the mystery

A Scorpio is a fixed water sign, which means that they are VERY deep, but also a little closed at times. They can come across as mysterious but really they are just cautious about what information they share and who they let into their inner circle. That can be a good thing though, because once you’re in, you’ll learn more and more about them. Patience is your friend.

Be loyal

Because of the deep watery nature of a Scorpio, they can be a little mistrusting and might even try to suss you out from afar before opening up to you. This is because they highly value loyalty and typically do not give second chances to people who betray them. If you are willing to prove your loyalty by being consistent, honest and authentic, most of them will give you that same eternal loyalty back.

Stand your ground

Scorpio is traditionally ruled by Mars, making them powerful creatures to behold. Coupled with their fixed nature, they have a great deal of stamina, assertiveness and resilience, making them hella sexy, but also sometimes a bit heavy-handed or stubborn. If you want to dance with a Scorpio, you have to stand your ground on the things you want sometimes, instead of just letting them dominate. They’ll respect you all the more for it.

Open your mind

Scorpio’s modern ruler is Pluto, the Lord of the Underworld, and their birthday falls at Halloween, which is probably where all the stereotypes of spookiness come from! This is just another way of showing how much transformative magic a Scorpio has. They are the phoenix rising from the ashes or the reclusive artist painting his soul’s urges onto canvas. A Scorpio is best suited to someone equally creative, open minded and accepting of all elements of them – light and dark.

Prepare to be surprised

Scorpio is perhaps one of the most stereotyped of all the zodiac signs, and if you want my number one top tip for dating a Scorpio, it’s to let go of all your expectations and assumptions and prepare to be surprised. There are all kinds of Scorpios – quiet and brooding or loud and sparkly, artistic and edgy or sweet and sensuous, and sometimes all of that in just one person! So if you really want to bag a Scorpio, just be yourself and let them be all sides of them too.

How did I do? Are you dating a Scorpio? What’s it like? Or are you a Scorpio yourself? Do you have any tips to add to this list?

Much love,

Ellie Rose xx

5 Tips for Dating a Leo

Need some tips for dating a Leo? From enjoying life to being yourself and more, these are our top astrological tips for dating a Leo. Let us know below if you have any to add!

Confidence

If you’re dating a Leo, the first thing you’re going to want to do is show a little confidence. Leos are ruled by the Sun and what does the Sun do? It shines! A Leo will appreciate someone who knows how to stand out, how to hold their heads up and impress them.

Be generous

Equally, a Leo loves to see generosity, and that doesn’t necessarily mean paying for dates or giving gifts. Leos have huge hearts and they love nothing more than meeting someone else with a big heart!

Show them your soft and giving side. Be kind to the restaurant staff. Give compliments. Smile. Care. It’s the fastest way to their hearts.

Be yourself!

Of course, Leo is king of the jungle so they know how to stand out and be themselves. If you’re dating a Leo they’ll appreciate seeing the real you. Authenticity is a big deal for them so if you’re quirky or love silly jokes, got a strange hobby or a hilarious tale to tell? Let it out!

Stand up for yourself

Leo is a “fixed” sign, which means they can be a little stubborn at times. If they want something or know they’re right, they often won’t back down, but that doesn’t mean you should just give in to them! A Leo will respect you more if you stand up for yourself in a cool and direct way.

Leos don’t like games or beating around the bush (in fact, they will be VERY direct at times) so they’ll need someone who can meet them eye to eye.

Have fun!

A fire sign, Leos love to be creative and express themselves freely. In addition, Leo rules the 5th house in astrology which is the house of fun, play, children and romance, so the most important thing you can do to win your Leo’s heart, is to have fun!

Plan a date with a fun activity like a theme park or roller-skating. Organise a surprise party. Take them kayaking, dancing, karaoke singing. Anything where they can let go and get a little wild will bring you closer, and you’ll enjoy it too!

What do you think? Are you dating a Leo? Are there any tips you would add? Let us know below or share on social media if you’re a proud Leo!
